Relationship quality affecting libido, is one of the most common issues that happens to most women. The decrease in libido in particular is a very common sexual issue among women. This condition is often caused by several physical and psychological factors.
Several physical factors that lead to a decline in the female sex drive may include vaginal dryness or having insufficient lubrication, hormonal imbalance, poor nutrition, pregnancy, obesity, menopause, childbirth and more.
Women who are taking certain medical prescriptions are prone to having low sexual drives. Several antidepressants including Paxil and Prozac are known to impair orgasms and decrease libido. This mainly because antidepressants work by raising the production of serotonin in the blood, which in turn affects libido. Women who are taking antihistamines are also subject to have a decrease in libido. A majority of antihistamines interfere with the body’s nerve signals, resulting to vaginal dryness. Although vaginal dryness is not a major health problem, lack of lubrication simply makes sex uncomfortable for women.
As we all know, hormones play a very significant role in determining an individual’s sex drive. The male testosterone hormone in particular is known as a libido booster for both genders. Women who are reaching the menopausal stage experience a decrease in the production of testosterone in their system. When this happens, most women experience a drop in their libido.
