A Healthy Sexuality Is Possible

Recently I had a chat with one of my closest friends. We talked about her latest sexual encounters and I was amazed with her. There are many sexually active people out there but only a few are sexually healthy. Many would ask: “How can I attain a healthy sexual lifestyle? ” Well my friends, a healthy sexuality is indeed possible.

We should never be shy when talking about our sexuality. We have the right to be informed in order to avoid acquiring sexually transmitted diseases, unwanted pregnancies and serious health problems which are the results of unsafe and abusive sex. Healthy sex isn’t only practicing safe sex, it enhances who we are, it boosts our self-esteem, and it gives us pleasure but keeps us physically and emotionally healthy and benefits us rather than harm us. Maintaining a healthy sexuality is a must.

Achieving a healthy sexuality requires effort. To avoid sexually transmitted diseases and unwanted pregnancies one must practice safe sex by using condoms and other birth control methods like pills, injectables and many more. To increase sexual performance one must also be conscious of their diet. Foods which are rich in carbohydrates and fats must be avoided. Vitamin E intake can help increase blood flow; help prevent erectile dysfunction problems and heart diseases.

Serious health problems can be prevented by avoiding cigarettes and alcohol. Another way to gain a healthy sexuality is by keeping yourself physically active. Weight training can help increase strength, aerobics for stamina and yoga can help for flexibility. Daily exercise is also recommended. These can help you feel healthier and help you achieve good sex. We must bear in mind that a healthy sexuality is not only for adolescents but for people of all ages. Our sexual craving doesn’t end when we grow old so while it’s still early let’s do everything we can in order to attain a healthy sexual lifestyle.
