Before this question can be answered, the first to do is to get into details about what is premature ejaculation, its causes and cures.

Basically, there is no standard definition of this condition. When a man reaches orgasm prior to his desire, then experts conclude that this is called premature ejaculation.

There have been researches conducted and showed that the usual time from arousal to ejaculation is between five and ten minutes. However, the span of time to reach orgasm is considered extraneous if the partners are contented with their sex life. This only becomes a problem if a partner constantly gets aroused during sexual intercourse but needs the other to remain erect longer. This, then, can be a challenge on the partners’ relationship.

This problem is actually very common. In fact, based on some figures, there are approximately 30% male Americans who reach earlier orgasm than they would want to. Premature ejaculation, otherwise known as involuntary ejaculation, is a normal and temporary complaint among the young and inexperienced men.

In majority of cases, its either anxiety or excitement is the cause of this involuntary ejaculation. For instance, a young and inexperienced man will have trouble controlling his response while engaging in sexual intercourse with his partner and at some point it may feel involuntary. Worrying too much about things will make the experience unsatisfying and rushed. Usually, when a man practices sex, he will eventually overcome this problem.

However, if the problem occurs in the adult years of a man’s life, it is more often than not caused by anxiety. Due to the several factors that can trigger anxiety during intercourse, a man may not be able please his partner. Rarely does it happen that premature ejaculation is a result of physical illnesses, despite having probable elements such as extreme penis sensitivity, nerve injuries as well as other neurological disorders, particularly the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).

Also known as Lou Gehrig’s diseases, it is a progressive and lethal neurological illness that has affected about 20,000 Americans, with 5,000 new cases of the disease in the US every year. This actually is from a class of disorders called motor neuron diseases. ALS happens as the brain and spinal cord’s individual nerve cells control the voluntary movement then slowly degenerates them. Losing such motor neurons lead the muscles into a weakening state, which will eventually lead to paralysis if not acted upon immediately. In the premature ejaculation’s case, it results to involuntary orgasms.

In conclusion, a man has to be more aware of his body and how he responds while engaging in sex, from initial excitement to the point where he reaches orgasm. Relieving oneself of stress can also help ease this problem as well as avoiding alcohol and drugs.
