Women’s sexual health – The libido of woman
Love Foods Or Love Fools?
Dante’s plane of lustfulness in the levels of hell must not contain only the fires of and the screams of desire. They might have also been filled with sinful food as well.
We’ve all heard, and sampled, about the purportedly libido-inducing aphrodisiacs. In case you’re interested, here we have a run down on some of the most popular love foods to rev up your sex machine. But even more than that, we’ll take a closer look at these foods and examine if they are worth their fame.
List Toppers
As far as we know, oysters are the best well-known aphrodisiac. It is packed with zinc that will supposedly help you feel sexy.
Apart from that there’s serotonin, which is a chemical that the brain produces naturally which boosts your sexual desire. Stress kills the levels of serotonin, resulting to poor ejaculation and sperm count. To make up for this, foods containing the amino acid tryptophan along with certain carbohydrates can reportedly increase your levels of serotonin and slam you a great sex score. These foods take the form of fish, poultry or beef with bread or pasta.
Androsterone, which is a potent male hormone, can be found in celery. Researchers speculate that androsterone is released by the male through perspiration and women can sense this come-on subconsciously. The bait is out, the trap is set. Some say that chilies, curries, and other spicy foods can get your sex life pumping to a fever pitch while others hold that chocolate tops the charts for libido fever. To some, even just the smell of a pumpkin pie can reportedly increase blood flow to the penis, according to a scientific study.
The list goes on for these love foods, some have scientific basis while others are downright stupid. So what’s the real score? Will these love foods help or are we just love fools to believe in such?
The Bitter Side Of Love Foods
Unfortunately, the marketing of Aphrodisiac has been capitalizing much on false claims. There is actually a shortage of studies to support the claims made on aphrodisiacs. In fact, there is no proof that ginseng or oysters or anything else in between, have an effect on human sexual reaction. It is believed that the only reason why ancient peoples believe some something to be aphrodisiac because of their close resemblance to the genitalia which therefore leads to its sexual powers. The classical examples for this are the ginseng, rhinoceros horn, and oysters.
The Food and Drug Administration said that the sexual effects hyped on so-called aphrodisiacs are mainly based in folklore and not facts. As early as 1989, the agency announced that there is no scientific proof whatsoever about over-the-counter aphrodisiacs as a treatment to sexual dysfunction. Some of the love foods sold is blatant rip-off while some are even downright deadly. Such as the case of the Spanish fly, which is the most legendary and infamous aphrodisiac from dried beetle remains. The Spanish fly can actually cause a rush of blood to the sex organs but it is also a poison that burns and leads to genitourinary infections and even death.
The difficulty in qualifying the success of an aphrodisiac lies in the fact that people can only provide anecdotal and subjective evidences about it. Apart from that, an obstacle also to obtaining proof of its effects is that some drugs can always change a person's mood which might not be necessarily sexual.
Most Potent Aphrodisiac
The bottom line is, don’t believe what the world tells you about it. Most of our turn-ons are personally based. Afterall, according to John Renner, founder of the Consumer Health Information Research Institute (CHIRI), "The mind is the most potent aphrodisiac there is." He added that "It's very difficult to evaluate something someone is taking because if you tell them it's an aphrodisiac, the hope of a certain response might actually lead to an additional sexual reaction."
Always keep in mind the awesome power of the mind. The truth of the matter is, aphrodisiacs will only work simply because you think they will.
