Prostate Issues
A healthy prostate is very important for a man to have good sexual function, including the ability to have children. It is equally essential in the development of the male sex organs.
The prostate’s main purpose is to secrete and store a clear, slightly basic fluid which constitutes up to one-third of the volume of semen. It differs considerably between species - anatomically, chemically, and physiologically. A healthy human prostate is slightly larger than a walnut. It surrounds the urethra just below the urinary bladder. It is located in front of the rectum and can be felt during a rectal exam.
Otherwise considered to be one of the least studied parts of the male reproductive system, this small gland can cause major disruptions in a male’s life if not given due attention. Prostate problems normally surface after the age of 50. However, prostatitis, a bacterial infection that can cause painful or difficult urination, and other non-cancerous prostate problems such as prostatalgia pain in the prostate gland; benign prostatic hypertrophy, a condition of an enlarged prostate; impotence, the inability to have or keep an erection; urinary incontinence, the loss of bladder control, may be experienced by younger men usually who are in their middle-ages.
The modern lifestyle of stress; long hours of sitting, driving or TV watching; stuffing food and emotions; eating fast food, flesh and milk products; regular intake of sugar, caffeine, and alcohol; and environmental toxicity all set the stage for chronic, debilitating and degenerative diseases, including prostate enlargement (BPH Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy) and prostate cancer. Coherently, to avoid such prostate complications, it would be better to stay young and in prostatic shape through natural methods such as: maintaining sexual activity since the rush of blood and energy, as well as the prostate's pulsations during ejaculation, help the gland to maintain its muscular strength and freedom; getting regular exercise to maintain physical fitness; managing stress levels, taking activity breaks, breathing and stretching exercises, from long periods of sitting and computer work; proper nutrition such as eating a low fat, higher-fiber, more vegetarian and wholesome diet; and avoiding excess use of refined sugars, red meats and alcohol, while obtaining adequate essential fatty acids daily, such as from two teaspoons of flaxseed oil. Zinc, Vitamins C and E and the B vitamins, particularly B6 are important for a healthy prostate.
The increase of prostate cancer cases every year has become quite alarming and fortunately, the promotion of awareness on the fundamentals of prostate care has slowly been deployed. Recent studies show that men have the same rate (1 in 8) for Prostate Cancer as women have for Breast Cancer. 400,000 plus men each year have prostate surgery; 165,000 men plus each year learn they have prostate cancer. And although modern medicine is performing unparalleled "life saving" services for desperately ill people, learning the basics of prostate care and healthy living is beneficial to the prevention of such problems. |
