Teenagers as of today are very impulsive. They always get what they want. If they want to do something, they do it right away without thinking. It is a common knowledge that teenagers nowadays are very aggressive, liberated and are very sexually active. Does their youth justify them for their actions? Is there a way that we can protect them from acquiring sexually transmitted disease as a result of unsafe sex? Our young ones must have a background of what STD’s are. Here are some STD facts which can be very helpful to them.
STD’s can infect anyone who is sexually active. They can be spread through vaginal, anal and oral sex. Most victims are teens and young adults since they are more likely to be sexually active and like to explore. Hence, STD facts are very beneficial to them in order for them to be aware of the how unsafe sex can really be harmful to them.
STD’s are also spread through contact body fluids such as vaginal fluids, blood or semen. Contact with infected skin or mucus membranes like sores in the mouth can also spread STD’s. Most STD’s have no symptoms at all that’s why it is very hard to detect if one is infected. Other STD’s have symptoms like : sores or blisters around the genital area or in the mouth, pain or burning sensation when urinating, itching, swelling, pain around the genitals and fevers and chills.
Other STD facts which can help prevent one from getting an STD are as follows. Never inject drugs. Avoid alcohol and drugs. Never use a douche for it can cause germs to travel up to the vagina. If ever one experiences any symptoms of an STD then one should directly ask for medical help. Upon knowing that one is infected with STD, all sex partners who may have been exposed must be informed. Also try to get them tested. There are serious problems that STD’s can cause and these are: increased risk for some types of cancer, infertility, heart disease, birth defects and even death. Never allow yourself to be a victim, practice safe sex now before it’s too late!
