The scariest thing that a person could experience in their whole lives would be to carry a disease and suffer from it all their lives. The worst would be getting infected with herpes virus. Once a person becomes infected with herpes, they can remain infected for life. There is still no known cure for herpes and the infection may reoccur constantly without proper treatment.
Herpes virus affects the human body and the infection would break mostly on the skin, oral mucosa and the genital area. Herpes outbreaks occur primarily and secondarily. Primary outbreaks are usually the worst and secondary outbreaks are mostly reoccurring and appear near the original site of infection. For genital herpes outbreak, it usually occurs around the genital area after one to two weeks of sexual exposure to the virus. Clinical manifestations include a tingling sensation around the buttocks, thighs and genitalia. Visual symptoms appear as small red bumps that will progress into blisters. For the next two to three weeks, more blisters will appear and they will develop into open sores and are very painful. The small lesions will dry and heal eventually and would develop a scab without leaving any scars. Yet while the lesions are healing, they can cause itchiness but will gradually decrease as the lesions heal.
If herpes virus is left untreated they can progress to more serious complications depending on the severity of the symptoms. Since the symptoms are mostly overt and can cause alteration of the skin integrity, the worst complication this could lead to is serious emotional distress.
